The Fostinum

The collector is the true resident of the interior.  The collector dreams his way not only into a distant or bygone world but also into a better one.

Hippolyte Arnoux was a photographer in the second half of the 19th century in Egypt, where he took numerous photos of the landscape as well as the people.  I became interested in him after finding some of his portraits for sale, which capture part of the beauty and innocence that time in Egypt.  Arnoux's photos of workers are especially interesting and beautiful, much like Pascal Sebah's photos of tradesmen and people of various professions.
